It is always an adventure to visit my friends who live in the Bend of Islands at Kangaroo Ground, for the Yarra River flows in their backyard!
It is a fairly perilous trip down to the river as it is very steep and rocky, but there is safety in their mud brick house, which nestles into its surrounding native bushland.
Wombats, koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, native birds and snakes are frequent visitors into my friends' backyard.
