Although I am not a quilter, a friend gave me a block and suggested I have a go. I have no idea whether the enclosed block would be suitable for the Long Yarra Quilt, but I enjoyed making it and although it may be too late, here it is.
As a single mum in the early 80's, my four children and I spent many weekends at the river either at Warburton or Warrandyte. We always took a picnic and the boys would spend hours skipping stones in the water or fishing and my daughter would join them in feeding ducks or looking for lizards and insects. They were always happy days and it didn't cost anything—a necessary consideration at the time.
Anyway, good luck with putting everything together, and if this is not suitable, don't worry—it was the pleasure I gained in making it that's important.
